THU, SEPT 14, 8:45p:

A celebration of Coppola films & wines

with Coppola wine specials every screening, and

introducing the new Sofia Brut Sparkling Rosé!

Directed by SOFIA COPPOLA/2010/1hr, 37mins.

With Stephen Dorff, Elle Fanning, Chris Pontius

After withdrawing to the Chateau Marmont, a passionless Hollywood actor reexamines his life when his eleven-year-old daughter surprises him with a visit.

“A FASCINATING, MATURE, BEAUTIFULLY CRAFTED WORK OF ART, FROM A DIRECTOR WHO CONTINUES TO SURPRISE US. Sofia Coppola has absorbed the Italian avant-garde more completely than her father ever did, and has made a film about celebrity in the vein of Antonioni and Bertolucci, a film about Hollywood in which she turns her back on it, possibly forever.”-Andrew O’Hehir, Salon

Directed by SOFIA COPPOLA/1998/14mins.

With Christina Turley, Audrey Kelly,

Peter Bogdanovich, Zoe R. Cassavettes

Chloe is the queen bee of her seventh grade class, obsessed with Virginia Andrews’ Flowers in the Attic and bored with the typical trappings of adolescence.

She and her clique cleverly devise a way to deal with the immature boys in the school, but all does not quite go as planned. Lick the Star is Sofia Coppola’s early ode to young challenges, showing the beginning of themes developed into features later on, and in gorgeous 16mm black and white by her long time collaborating cinematographer Lance Acord (Marie Antoinette, Lost in Translation).

The films will be introduced by Miami New Times Film Critic Juan Barquin.
