MBC Interactive Archive Project:

OVERVIEW OF THE 1950s

The MBC Interactive Archive Project debuts the 1950s tonight…

after 50 years (so far) of collecting and months of cataloging, organizing, grouping and scanning images to represent the history of cinema illustrated by vintage memorabilia and ephemera. Tonight we reveal the 1950s section of the digital presentation…from the superstars and anti-TV inventions and gimmicks in the USA, such as 3/D and spectacular Cinerama, to the world wide discovery of such auteurs as Satyajit Ray in India and Akira Kurosawa in Japan, MBC presents the 1950s in all its glory-- twenty galleries representing the major directors, stars, genres and movements from around the world. Every three months we will debut a new decade of images from the archive. This is the fourth installment, complemented by an ongoing MBC retrospective of highlights of world cinema. This overview will reveal a world of images to tell the history of cinema in a theatrical setting. Hope to see you there!”-Dana Keith, MBC Founder & Director, and collector!

Fun fact: What do all the films above have in common?

(They all are Academy Award winners.)

Followed by a reception featuring Coppola wines

The MBC Interactive Archive Project is made possible by a generous grant from the
